A lot has been said about the dangers of living in Lagos - it is important to be vigilant at all times and take good precautions such as:
1. When driving make sure all doors are locked.
2. Make sure your children are always accompanied by someone other than just the driver
3. Limit night travel.
4. If you are waved down by someone who looks like they are in distress, and you are alone or unsure about the situation, it may be better to call emergency services for help instead of stopping.
5. Always have a charged phone with credit to make emergency calls. There is a new rapid response emergency service that can be reached on 767.
6. Always keep valuables out of sight (laptops, mobile phones & jewelry)
7. If you have help around the house, restrict access to your valuables (use a safe if need be - but make sure it is well hidden).
8. In the unfortunate event that you fall victim of an incident, provide full co-operation and give whatever is asked of you.
